about

We’re REMO, a social enterprise and charity that believes accessing home essentials and creative opportunities doesn’t need to cost the earth. For almost 20 years, we’ve been on the frontline of rescuing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling materials to create sustainable, useful and creative products and services. With help from our community members and resellers, we’ve already diverted three quarters of a million litres of paint and hundreds of tonnes of furniture, food and creative materials from landfill.

Our story started in 2005 when we began raising awareness about reusing and recycling at a time when some councils didn’t have recycling services. Since then, we’ve expanded the initiatives under our colourful umbrella, contributing to the circular economy by reducing waste and keeping a wide range of resources in use for as long as possible. Now, we have two locations in Cambridgeshire, an online shop, and a portfolio of people and planet-positive schemes.

our mission

To build community resilience by repurposing resources that enable access to affordable products and services which will accelerate the transition to a fair and equitable transition to a circular economy.

our values

We are led by three simple values. We’re creatively resourceful, finding purpose for surplus. We’re locally rooted, creating jobs in the community and reducing our carbon footprint by working with UK manufacturers. We’re naturally good, minimising our environmental impact by supporting the circular economy. Our schemes are designed to serve the environment, support the community, and create opportunities. Together, we can grow our impact and make a real difference to people and the planet.

REMO / REMO Trading for Good / REMO Eco-Superstore are all trading and umbrella names for REMO Charitable Trust and CCORRN Cambridgeshire Community Reuse and Recycling Network.

Shop

We do LOTS of amazing things with LOTS of wonderful people and materials. We badge these work streams and projects under material types. Have a click through to find more about the exciting ways we repurpose things that would otherwise be wasted.

People Powered

Here at REMO our best treasure is our people. Virtually everything we do relies on this small but mighty team who together bring about huge environmental and social impact.

Theory of Change

Our Theory of Change is rooted in the knowledge that people who are struggling to meet their basic needs simply do not have the bandwidth to think beyond their immediate physical and psychological challenges.

Our combined lived experience has helped inform and define the concept that being a responsible citizen that cares and contributes to society in a positive way is greatly affected by the individual’s connection to others, their ability to have their needs met, to feel safe, and to feel positive about themselves.

That’s why we serve our local community with sustainable affordable products and services that meet their basic needs and we support their emotional well-being through creativity and connection with others so that they in turn can “pay it forward” to others for the benefit of our community, our planet, and our future.
